Splitting a PDF by text content is smarter than splitting by page numbers. Instead of guessing which page numbers correspond to sections, you tell the tool to split at specific text markers like Chapter or Section 1. This creates logically organized documents.
When to Split by Text
Textbooks and manuals with chapter-based structure can be split into individual chapter PDFs. Contract documents containing multiple agreements can be separated at each agreement heading. Report compilations where each section begins with a known header.
How It Works
Specify the text marker where the split should occur. The tool searches for that text in the document and creates a new PDF starting at each occurrence. For example, splitting at Chapter creates one PDF per chapter, each beginning with that chapters content.
Best Practices
Choose text markers that are unique to section boundaries. Chapter or Section followed by a number works well. Avoid common words that appear frequently in the body text. Preview the first few splits to verify the marker is working correctly.
